Abstract
This article describes an outreach program that differs from the vast majority of outreach programs described in the Journal. The difference is the use of high school students as presenters of chemistry demonstrations to elementary students in grades 3 through 5. The program is in its fourth year and features a separate demonstration program for each grade level. The demonstrations cover some of the concept areas that the elementary teachers cover in science. The program has been very successful, judging from the comments from teachers, students, parents, and administrators. The students are enthusiastic and enthralled by each program. Their interest and curiosity in science are piqued by these presentations. Comments from former student presenters indicate that they felt their communication skills had improved along with their understanding of the chemistry concepts covered. They also indicate that they feel more comfortable in the college laboratory setting after participating in this program. The program is presented to about 1500 students in five elementary schools once annually.

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs

Through special arrangement with the ACS, JCE High School CLIC is now able to provide subscribers with online access to Chemical & Engineering News articles that have been selected specifically for secondary science instructors and their students.

JCE Collections Available
Occasionally, collections of JCE back issues become available for donation to individual teachers, schools, or libraries. JCE matches collections with interested recipients. Recipients pay shipping costs or pick up the collection.
