Papermaking is the JCE Classroom Activity in this issue and a wonderful way to celebrate chemistry and art, the theme of this year's National Chemistry Week (November 4-10, 2001). The art paper on the cover is a beautiful manifestation of the attractions between cellulose molecules as well as relations between art and science. The art paper is part of "From the Heart", a series by Wisconsin paper artist Jura Silverman.

The cover was designed by Betsy True.
