JCE 2002 CD-ROM

Each year the Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM puts the text and graphics for all the articles, features, reviews, and supplemental material published in a volume of the Journal of Chemical Education onto one easily accessible place: JCE CD. The 2002 issue in this series includes all 12 issues published in 2002.

Searching and Linking

There are several ways to obtain the information you want from JCE CD. If you know the year and month in which an article was published, or if you remember what the cover of the issue looked like, a mouse click or two will bring you to the table of contents of the issue you want. The title of each article in the table of contents is a link that takes you to the article itself as well as an abstract and links to any supplemental material that may accompany the article.

You can perform a full search of the CD using Adobe Acrobat Reader (included on the CD); you can search the full text of all articles for any word, partial word, or phrase. A successful search produces a list of links to the articles that contain the text for which you searched. This text will be highlighted in each article.

You will find that many references in the Literature Cited section at the end of each article are linked—a mouse click takes you to the article cited. If that article is not on the CD and you have an Internet connection, the linked reference will take you to JCE Online. WWW URLs (to other than JCE Online) that appear in articles are also linked directly to Web sites.

Advantages of JCE on CD-ROM

JCE CD 2002 is formatted so that all articles retain their original appearance. Each begins with an abstract/keyword page followed by the article pages. All pages of the Journal that contain editorial content, including the front covers, tables of contents, letters, and reviews, are included. Also included are a wealth of supplemental materials.

The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM is a useful tool for chemical educators. Its full-text searching feature helps you locate articles on a particular topic or written by a particular author. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can scan an article on your computer monitor. You can print it if it proves interesting and read it in any setting you choose. There is no need to go to the library, locate an issue of JCE, and read or photocopy the article you want. Having a full year of the Journal in a compact, lightweight, portable package is extremely convenient.

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs

Through special arrangement with the ACS, JCE High School CLIC is now able to provide subscribers with online access to Chemical & Engineering News articles that have been selected specifically for secondary science instructors and their students.

JCE Collections Available
Occasionally, collections of JCE back issues become available for donation to individual teachers, schools, or libraries. JCE matches collections with interested recipients. Recipients pay shipping costs or pick up the collection.
