Types of Conceptual Questions (CQs): Series Completion Questions
These questions ask a student to select an item that best completes a series. These questions require that the student recognize the common feature in the series and use that feature to complete the series.

Example of Series Completion Question

What species comes next in the following series that relates to strengths of acids and bases:

H3O+ : HF : NH3 : OH- :

(a) H2O
(b) HSO4-
(c) SO42-
(d) N3-
(e) O2
