The cover features Rhodospirillum rubrum, a photosynthetic bacterium
whose antenna proteins have been studied by R. M. Hochstrasser using
ultrafast spectroscopy (
page 559). Hochstrasser's paper is one of three articles on Lasers
in Chemistry, the featured topic of the 8th Waters Symposium. Papers
based on this symposium held at Pittcon in March 1997 can be found on
pages 555-570.
The electron micrograph of Rhodospirillum rubrum was provided courtesy
of Eldon Newcomb. The cover was designed by Betsy True.
Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your particpants.
