Abstract
Though most of us agree learning science is fun, the joy and excitement are difficult to convey properly in the classroom. Several methods have been suggested to make the class interesting and lively. In the method we have employed here, questions are framed as simple riddles and the student interacts with the class by responding to the riddle through hidden hints. Here, we report a few elementary riddles that highlight some properties of elements and their compounds and may provide a change of pace in a freshman chemistry lecture or in a quiz.
