Chemists Celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day is April 22, 2004, and the American Chemical Society's theme for this year is "What do you know about H2O?". In celebration of Earth Day, this issue contains articles on water chemistry, green chemistry, and environmental chemistry. The cover features a false-color satellite image showing the water clarity of the lakes in Eagan, Minnesota. In this image, clear lakes are blue, moderately clear lakes are green and yellow, and murky lakes are orange and red. For more information on how scientists use satellites to monitor lake water quality, see "Water Quality Monitoring by Satellite".

Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your participants.
