| Abstract |
|
A mixed contest and exhibition having the periodic table as the subject was organized. Forty works were submitted to the contest, involving 180 participants, and were prepared using techniques from diverse areas, such as painting, sculpture, music, literature, photography, cookery, video, new technologies, and so forth. The scientific character of the periodic table was combined with a more embracing vision in the field of perception, aesthetics, image, sensations, that is, of art. Contests and exhibitions are an easy way of reaching the youngest members of the public and, indeed, the general public with chemistry.
