December 2006 Featured on the Cover
A broad goal of chemistry courses is to prepare students to be independent problem solvers. As described in the article by Hollenbeck et al., one such course was recently revised and updated to more effectively prepare undergraduate chemistry students for their first independent research experience. The cover illustrates undergraduate organic chemistry students presenting the results of their research projects at a poster session at the University of Wisconsin–Madison attended by fellow students, faculty, and staff. This article discusses two of this month’s themes: undergraduate research and -pharmaceuticals.
