Will you be attending BCCE 2014? There is still time to register! This is one of the best opportunities for high school chemistry teacher professional development. Grand Valley State University BCCE organizers have worked to make this year’s BCCE an affordable and valuable experience for high school level teachers. High school teachers may register at the reduced rate of $210 ($350 for regular attendees). If you are attending, I hope you will consider attending our ChemEd X Workshop. We will provide training to those interested in contributing their ideas with our community of educators. See the workshop abstract below. I hope to see you in August!
W-16. ChemEd Xchange: Be A Contributor, Thursday, August 7, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Presenters: Jon Holmes, Managing Editor of the Journal of Chemical Education assisted by Deanna Cullen, Precollege Associate Editor of JCE.
The Chemical Education Xchange (ChemEd X, www.chemedx.org) welcomes contributions to its growing body of articles, activities, blogs, media, and picks on topics of interest to teachers and learners of the chemical sciences. Contributors create new content, comment on existing content, and share resources and ideas through social media. In this workshop, we will provide training for those who wish to share their unique perspective with the ChemEd X community. Although everyone interested in the chemical sciences is welcome to participate at ChemEd
X, we are seeking to involve chemistry teachers in the Xchange of ideas that are unique to the pre-college and two-year college arenas. Many changes are being introduced to early science education such as AP Chemistry reform and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and ChemEd seeks to help teachers navigate through this sea of change.
